10-1 AWEA 2016 – Better Wind Turbine Performance through Continuous Training
Conference: American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) WindPower 2016 Conference & Exhibition, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Title: "Better Wind Turbine Performance through Continuous Training of Operations and Maintenance Personnel"
This paper presents the case for continuous, simulation-based training of O&M personnel as a key factor in improving wind turbine availability and reducing unscheduled maintenance costs. Key arguments include:
- The gap between initial training and real-world operational competence
- How real-time simulators reproduce fault scenarios that are rare in normal operation but critical to master
- The use of ACMSL simulators at US technical colleges and European training centres
- Measurable improvements in diagnostic speed after simulator-based training
10-2 Techwindgrid 2009 – Datalogger Field Experience in Wind Turbines
Conference: Techwindgrid 2009.
Title: "Experiencia ganada con el uso de un datalogger de altas prestaciones en aerogeneradores" (Experience gained using a high-performance datalogger in wind turbines)
This paper documents the field experience accumulated with the ACMSL DL1300 industrial datalogger deployed in real wind turbine installations. Topics covered include:
- Challenges of acquiring multi-channel data from RS232/RS485 instrumentation in field conditions
- Design decisions in the DL1300: XML configuration, fault tolerance, millisecond timestamping
- Case studies: identifying hydraulic system degradation from logged data, detecting intermittent communication faults
- Data volume management: selective sampling strategies for analogue vs. digital signals
10-3 Training for Wind Maintenance Team – Greenko Group (India)
ACMSL delivered a simulation-based training programme for the wind turbine operations and maintenance team of Greenko Group, one of India's leading renewable energy companies.
The programme covered:
- Introduction to the electrical and mechanical architecture of DFIG wind turbines
- Hands-on use of the ACMSL DFIG real-time simulator for fault scenario training
- Controller incidence messages: mapping alarms to root causes and maintenance actions
- Data analysis: using recorded signal data for performance monitoring and fault diagnosis
10-4 2022–2025 – Technical Teacher’s Training Programs (Spain)
Between 2022 and 2025, ACMSL participated in multiple Formación del Profesorado de Formación Profesional (Vocational Training Teacher Development) programmes organised by regional education authorities across Spain, including:
- Junta de Andalucía – Centros del Profesorado
- Junta de Castilla y León – Centro de Formación del Profesorado
- Comunidad de Madrid – Centro de Formación del Profesorado
These programmes trained vocational education teachers in the use of ACMSL wind turbine simulators as classroom tools, enabling them to deliver practical, hands-on wind energy training within their Vocational Training (FP) programmes.
